Do you ever think about an ex long after a failed relationship? Are they happy now, do they wonder about you, has life treated them well? The "torch" may have burned out long ago, but there can be some curiosity regarding how their life turned out. This curiosity can be brought on by visiting the place (in this case Halifax, Nova Scotia) you last heard they lived.

Lyrics

Catherine Ann © Jeff Patch SOCAN

I haven't seen you since I saw you waiting tables
Or was it cashing someones cheque at the Bank of Nova Scotia
I hadn't held you since you brought me flowers
A housewarming present in 1998

I saw your Dad a few years later
He said you went to Halifax, that you had to get away
My friend John, he saw you at the Mardi Gras
Thought you looked sad, thought you missed me

But Catherine Ann are you happy
I want to know you're OK
Catherine Ann if you wonder
I want you to know I'm OK

I used to visit Halifax, looked for you in the streets
Never found your name in the phone book
I saw someone like you, down by historic properties
Summer 2002, she was pushing s baby carriage

Now it's 2014 and I've just been to Halifax
Still walking down the street I kept an eye out for you
Now this don't mean that I still love you
That torch went out a long time ago

But Catherine Ann are you happy
I want to know you're OK
Catherine Ann if you wonder
I want you to know I'm OK

But Catherine Ann I hope you're happy
That life's been going your way
Catherine Ann I hope you wonder
'bout me sometimes, some days
